Ah, yes. The innocence and naievete of youth. :)

I was fortunate enough to have an innocent childhood, and I've often thought that it would be nice to go back there.

And yet if I did, and skipped all of the trials I've endured since then, I would never TRULY know what I was made of.

You can't say that you possess some attribute until you've clung to it when EVERYTHING in your life is trying to pull it away from you.

I think that there's something immensely satisfying in looking at all of your bumps, cuts (even if they're still bleeding) and bruises and knowing that even though life has tried to kick your a*%, you're surviving.

Thriving, even.

And you are definitely thriving, Nikki! You can say with certainty what you are made of.
