A: According to a global study done by Westin Hotels (released Aug 17, 2009), 51% of respondents prefer good sleep to good sex.
I say, THAT DOES NOT SURPRISE ME AT ALL WHY IS THIS STUDY GETTING AIR TIME ON THE NEWS I SWEAR YOU CAN GET GREAT SEX WAY EASIER THAN YOU CAN GET SOME DECENT SHUT EYE ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN AND/OR A JOB AND/OR A LIFE AND/OR ARE BREATHING.
Other little discoveries from this study you may find interesting:
- 51% of travelers in the US prefer a great night's sleep to great sex, compared with just 31% who chose sleep over sex 10 years ago. Apparently we're getting more and more tired as time goes on.
- The men were more likely than women to prefer SLEEP to SEX. Weird, eh? In this study, the women actually preferred sex to sleep more often than the boys. Interesting.
- In nine out of 10 countries surveyed, snoozing beat sex. Only the Canadians chose seduction over sleep. Horny b-sturds. (Literally pronounced "bee-sturds")
So, sex or sleep?

How about great sex followed by great sleep?
What were the ages of these "boys"? My hubby is in his late 20s and 9 times out of 10 would choose sex over sleep..LOL..but maybe that's just him!
As a fellow Canadian I must explain why the results show that Canadians prefer a night of romping over a night of snoring! It is due to the huge French population here in Canada- namely Montreal, Quebec! I'm a French Canadian so trust me when I say that the French, no matter where they live, prefer not only to speak the love of language, but also to engage in the actions of love over anything else, including sleep! What better way to get a good night's sleep!!! Ha, ha, ha! Loved this post Nikki! Very cute!
shooty darn and yipee hoo. hey nik, mom called, she wants her personality back. OH!! BURN.
I have a feeling Francesca doesn't have kids yet? How I fondly remember those worry-free days... :)
Sex is great, but sleep is oh so much more satisfying sometimes. Especially if you don't get very much of it. I vote sleep!
And that makes me sound like a prude, really I'm not. I just really really really ridiculously love good sleep. :) haha
Francesca--I think you've for sure got the right idea! Even though Sarah is right, once you've got kids sleeep inches it's way to the top of your priority list. At least it did on mine... haha.
Harker Fam--thanks for clarifying why you Canadians love the bedroom! PS I have tried to go check out your blog and it's private. boo.
Anonymous--I have no idea what their ages were! That's a good question. I think most of us would agree that in our experience, the boys prefer the sex. haha.
Brooke--I was actually thinking of you as I typed those mom-isms. I knew you would appreciate them, even though that comment was pretty cold. Burrsy Wurrsy.
I just came here to second brooke's comment. She was pretty harsh though! Ouchy-wa-wa.
hahahahaha kristina. love.
Alright I'll step up and be the one woman who will admit that I would prefer good sex to sleep any day (and I do have kids). I guess I'm the type of woman they polled for the survey, but I think my hubby would probably pick sex over sleep too. Yeah, we don't sleep much :)
Hahahaha!! You go, Anonymous!
hmmmm, I'm gonna have to go with great sex. I mean sleep is good and all.....
I have 4 kids (ages 2-10) and have been married 13 years and would vote for great sex as well. Because I'm with Francesca and The Harkers....I always sleep GREAT after the fact.
Oh sorry Nikki about my blog. In fact I made my blog private because after having it for only one weekend I decided to stop updating it and just get rid of it because I was spending too much time updating it everyday (I'm just too busy right now with grad school, work and kids), but I loved the option it has of showing you when all your friends update their blog. So rather than deleting my blog and loosing this nifty tool, I just made my blog private and just keep it active to see when everyone else updates their blog. Pretty dumb I know but it works!!! If ever I decide to re-activate my blog I will definitely make it public. Ciao!

I'll admit there have been many times when I crawl into bed and my husband starts giving the hints, and I think all I want is to go to sleep. The reality is once I actually start doing the deed, I love it so much that I feel bad to think that I didn't want to do this, and it is totally worth losing a "few" extra minutes of sleep. Now, I will actually have the conversation in my head, "You say you want sleep, but you know once you get into it, you will enjoy it, and sleep more soundly after..." I think, ultimately, my husband feels the same way.
Just do it!
i know why men want sleep and women want the sex. (and sorry to get a little graphic here) men ALWAYS finish. therefore it is ALWAYS good. no matter what they say. women on the other hand don't have that luxury. i'm sure there are some of you out there that claim to, but it's a fact that it takes more for us.
so if its a guaranteed o- one vote for sex. which is why most nights i choose sleep.
